Portishead 'will not play live again in 2008'

Portishead have revealed that they will not play any further live shows in 2008.

Speaking to BBC6Music, the band's guitarist Adrian Utley said that their recent gig at the Bacelona Forum would be the comeback outfit's last this year.

"I don't think we are going to be doing any more gigs this year," he said. "But we'll possibly do some next year."

Utley went on to talk about the fact that Radiohead have recently been covering their song 'The Rip' during soundchecks.

He said: "I know [about the cover version] because Colin [Greenwood, bassist] from the band emailed me to say they had been playing it," he said. "And that they'd put it up on their site of them playing it in the dressing room.

"Thom [Yorke, vocals and piano] sounds beautiful singing it, it was amazing, such a buzz."

Video footage of Radiohead covering 'The Rip' by Portishead is available to watch on the Radiohead website now.

Sophie Choudry gangs up with Black Eyed Peas

There's lots happening in Sophie Choudry's life and what we are about to reveal is sure to make other female singers go green with envy. William, better known as Will.I.Am, of Black Eyed Peas has zeroed in on Sophie Choudry for a song of his next album. The duos, who have been friends for over year now, met up in London recently where Will.I.Am discussed the song that has been heavily inspired by Hindi film music. Will.I.Am, who has been the main singer of the rock band Black Eyed Peas, has always been inspired by India and Indian idols. His earlier album Elephunk was inspired by Lord Ganesha and Monkey Business by Lord Hanuman. Sophie said that she was looking forward to record the song with Will. "He feels that Indian singers are the next big thing on the global map."
